Councilwoman Joyce Dickerson (SC)

Chair, NFWL (President, NOWL)

Richland County Councilwoman Joyce Johnson Dickerson, a retired Compliance Auditor, was sworn into office in January of 2005 and is extremely committed to the constituents of District #2. Her three main goals are better management of growth in her community, to improve relations between citizens and county government, and to create economic development opportunities.

In addition to serving on the Richland County Council, she serves as Chair of Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA); the Executive Board of Central Midlands Council of Government (COG); President of the Women of National Association of Counties (WON), numerous leadership positions within the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL); former Chair of Administration and Finance, Development and Services member; President for Richland Democratic Women, Chair the National Association of Counties (NACo) Information and Technology Steering Committee; National Multi-Modal Transportation and Infrastructure Steering Committee along with numerous Ad Hoc Committees such as Richland Counties Budget and Finance Committee; Transportation Ad Hoc Committee.

Councilwoman Joyce Dickerson is a native of Savannah, Georgia residing in St. Andrews a suburb of Columbia, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Benedict College with a degree in Accounting and Management, and is also a graduate of Midlands Technical College. Her husband, Mack Dickerson, is a retired Non-Commission Officer from the United States Air Force. They have two children Mark Darryl Dickerson and MeLicia (MeMe).
